Inspection & Test Plan and Welding Plan

Documentation that connects design, execution and audit with no gaps.

What the ITP and the Welding Plan are

We document every stage of the welding process - from joint preparation through to final testing - in compliance with ASME VIII Div. 1 and Petrobras standards N-133 and N-2301. This is the documentation a client or third-party audit will ask for first.

What we deliver

  • Mapping of every welded joint in the equipment or structure
  • Each joint linked to its WPS/PQR and applicable welding parameters
  • Joint preparation, weld symbols and specification of materials and thicknesses
  • Preheat and heat treatment requirements
  • Inspection requirements by stage (visual, NDT, dimensional)

Why it matters

Without a well-structured ITP and Welding Plan it is common to find divergence between what was designed, what was built and what is documented - a recurring cause of failed audits and schedule delays. We solve the technical problem so your team passes the audit and delivers on time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an ITP and a Welding Plan?

The ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) sets out what will be inspected and when; the Welding Plan sets out how each joint will be welded (joint preparation, applicable WPS, sequence, heat treatment). The two documents work together and are normally required as a pair by standards such as Petrobras N-133.

Is an ITP mandatory?

It is required by ASME VIII Div.1 and by Petrobras standards (N-133/N-2301) for pressure vessels and critical equipment - and even where it is not a formal contract requirement, it reduces the risk of failing an audit.
